(NaturalNews Written by Dr David Jockers ) Zeolite is a naturally forming microporous, aluminosilicate mineral combination that is found in rock deposits around the world. Zeolite comes from the Greek word for ‘boiling stones’ as they emit steam when heated. Zeolites have a very strong affinity for pulling out toxic debris from water, clothing, and within the body. Zeolites are considered one of nature’s finest detoxifying elements.

Zeolites naturally form when fresh groundwater or sea water reacts with volcanic ash and takes anywhere from 50 to 10,000 years to complete formation. Synthetic zeolites can also be produced much faster and in a more uniform fashion. Zeolites are traditionally used in water filtration, refrigeration, construction, and aquariums.

Zeolites are unique groupings of minerals with a 4-sided honeycomb structure and a negative magnetic charge. This distinctive structure allows zeolite to have a strong osmotic gradient to capture positively charged heavy metals, environmental toxins, and free radicals. Zeolite has small cavities that contain these negatively charged compounds that strongly attract and capture toxins and free radicals.

Once zeolite captures toxins it then holds them with its magnetic energy until they are excreted out of the body through normal digestion. Approximately 60% of the excretion leaves through the urine and 40% through fecal matter.

Zeolites help remove heavy metals

Zeolites are effective at adsorbing heavy metals such as mercury, lead, aluminum, cadmium, and arsenic. These toxins are quickly accumulating in our bodies in the 21st century due to our overuse of chemicals in our food, household products, personal hygiene products, water, and medical treatments. These heavy metals are highly toxic and create massive free radical stress in the brain, liver, kidneys, and gut.

Zeolite has been shown to create an osmotic effect that helps pull these metals out of the tissue structure and into the zeolite matrix. It is a slow and steady process that should be applied daily. Continually dislodging and removing heavy metals is absolutely essential for optimal health.

Most antioxidants act by donating an electron to neutralize a free radical. However, zeolite neutralizes free radicals by trapping them in its complex structure which effectively inactivates and eliminates them. When meat is cooked at high temps and particularly when it is burned it produces dangerous heterocyclic amines and nitrosamines. These are highly carcinogenic free radicals.

Zeolite has been shown to be extremely effective at removing these free radicals from the body.
Zeolites also trap microbes such as pathogenic bacteria, viruses, and yeasts into their matrix where they are eliminated through the bowels and urine. It also grabs hold of xenoestrogenic molecules from plastics, pesticides, and herbicides.

Zeolite is great to have as part of a water filtration system because it helps remove toxins and excess H+ that contribute to an acidic state. Acidic water can have inflammatory effects in the body while neutral or slightly alkaline water has been shown to have significant health benefits.
Zeolites has been shown to be 100% safe and non-toxic by the FDA. This unique mineral has no positively charged fibrous particulates that are non-carcinogenic. They are very similar to clay and activated charcoal in function however zeolite appears to have stronger anti-oxidant effects.

Consuming clay, activated carbon, zeolite minerals, and other earth compounds is an ancient practice. All pre-industrialized cultures practice this regularly as do many animals. It is not uncommon to see birds, cats, dogs, etc. licking clay, rocks, and ash. This is termed ‘geophagy’ and has been observed in archeological sites from thousands of years ago. Some would say that a diet not consisting of these earth minerals would be unnatural.

I read a letter from Dr Al Sears today and he gave some really clear reasons why High Fructose Corn Syrup widely used in processed foods is far more toxic than sugar. Here is his summary.

Since I’ve been writing to you about the dangers of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) and how unnatural it is for you, you’ve probably seen the ads that say it’s the same as sugar. And that sugar, whether it comes from corn or from cane is the same.

Well, it’s not.

If you’ve read my previous letters I show you why it’s not the same and how the fructose is handled differently by your body than sugar from cane.

But there’s another big issue… when high fructose corn manufacturers smile at you and want to reassure you that corn syrup is perfectly fine, ask them about mercury.

One of the steps used to make high fructose corn syrup is to process with caustic soda, which is made using mercury. And when we test, we find that half of the HFCS samples have mercury. Mercury was also found in a third of the off-the-shelf commercial foods where HFCS is the first or second labeled ingredient.

Unfortunately, you probably aren’t going to learn much about this from your doctor. Most are still hopelessly ignorant in these areas. They were simply never taught about nutrition and environmental toxins in medical school and instead only learned about drugs and surgery.

One of the worst toxic offenders you’re exposed to every day is mercury. 6 million pounds of it go up into the air every year just from coal power plants.

This elemental or metallic mercury produces vapor that gets thrown into the air we breathe. It is also used in industry to produce chlorine gas and the caustic soda I mentioned, and in dental fillings and batteries.

Mercury combines with other elements, such as chlorine, sulfur, or oxygen, to form “inorganic mercury” or mercury salts. They are sometimes used in synthetic skin lightening creams and as antiseptic creams and ointments.

Mercury also combines with carbon to make “organic mercury” compounds. The most common is methylmercury. This is produced by organisms in the water and soil, and is the kind of mercury you get when you eat fish.

We also get mercury in our bodies from drinking water, some vaccines, fluorescent light bulbs, red tattoo dye and contact lens fluid. Here are some other places you’d never expect to find mercury:

Many protein powders contain high levels of mercury and other toxic and cancer-causing heavy metals like lead, cadmium and arsenic. This was confirmed by a recent study published in Consumer Reports.
Gone are the days when candles were made from natural products. Today, paraffin is the ingredient of choice. Sounds innocent enough, but paraffin is actually the sludge found at the bottom of barrels of crude oil. The oil by-product is then bleached and treated with benzene and other chemicals to make it usable for candles. Even the American Lung Association warns that paraffin candles release lead and mercury into the air. One study from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) found that toxic emissions from paraffin candles exceed their own recommendations.
Mercury can build up inside you unless you help your body get rid of it. If you have any of the symptoms of mercury poisoning – emotional instability, depression, numbness, muscle weakness, tremors or ataxia – have yourself checked by your doctor.

And to help your body defend itself, here are two things you can do to protect against buildup of mercury and other toxins:

Take The Fast Lane to Detox – Working out helps your blood and lymphatic circulation do its job or removing toxins from your body. The critical issue when using exertion for detoxification is to work up a good sweat. Working up a sweat will rid your body of many toxins. P.A.C.E. works very well for this.

The principles of short duration and progressively increasing intensity allows for quickly adapting to high levels of exertion. I have never perspired so quickly and heavily as when I condition myself with P.A.C.E. Hundreds of my patients are using it with great results.

Push the Poison Out – Antioxidant foods are good medicine to prevent toxic damage from mercury. Lots of cruciferous vegetables and berries give you the most antioxidant protection.

But, there is one antioxidant that your body makes which is your main detoxifying agent against mercury. It’s called glutathione. It resides in each cell and pushes out heavy metals that you then eliminate through sweat or bodily waste so they don’t do damage inside.

The nutrients L-Glutamine (1,000 mg) and N-acetyl cysteine (1,800 mg to 2,400 mg a day) help your body make more glutathione. Both are available at your local nutrition or health food store.

Organ meats like chicken livers or turkey and chicken giblets, plus eggs and walnuts also make the list of detoxifying foods because they have a lot of selenium, a powerful antioxidant mineral that also helps your body make glutathione. Try to get at least 55 micrograms, and up to 200 micrograms of selenium a day. Brazil nuts are a good source, too. Each has around 100 mcg. (Of course, I also recommend purified liquid zeolite – Deborah).

The finding from this reanalysis of published data hints that the societal toll of exposures to these invisible yet widespread contaminants – lead, organophosphate pesticides and methylmercury – may be more severe than what previous studies of individual risk would suggest.

Lead had the most severe calculated impact, with an estimated drop in IQ of 23 million points in the population. In contrast, the predicted loss due to preterm birth was 13 million points. Any drop in IQ is considered detrimental to people’s success and society’s needs.

In one of the first studies of its kind, the author analyzed published data from 25.5 million children and compared estimates of population-wide IQ loss from exposures to those of several well-known childhood medical conditions. This new approach to categorizing population risk could help researchers identify the most harmful exposures and evaluate the success of intervention programs.

Context

Exposure to chemicals in the environment can significantly affect a child’s developing brain and nervous system. The exposures can lower IQ, alter behavior and influence social relationships.

Lead, organophosphates and methylmercury are three contaminants known to harm a growing child’s nervous system. Lead exposure occurs mainly through paint in older buidlings and lead-contaminated soil and dust. Organophosphate pesticides are used on crops and in homes, so children can eat or breathe the chemicals. In the United States, methylmercury exposure is mostly from eating fish.

All three chemical types can be passed from pregnant women to the fetus and nursing children. Exposures can be prevented or minimized in communities through education, clean ups and other programs.

Prior studies mostly examine one chemical at a time and often only in a few hundred children. Therefore, the larger public health impact from exposure to a collection of environmental chemicals is not known in the general population.

Medical conditions can also affect thinking and learning abilities. For instance, major health problems, including birth defects, preterm birth, ADHD, autism and brain injuries also affect cognitive and social challenges in school, family and life.

Although environmental exposures and medical conditions can both harm children’s intelligence, no studies have quantified the public health impact on children’s IQ at a populational level or compared the potential harm from the environment versus medical conditions.

Comparing the potential impact on children’s intelligence from these sources would help determine if preventing exposures would reduce cognitive deficits in U.S. children.

What did they do?

To quantify the impact on children’s IQ at a societal – not an individual – level, the researcher analyzed and compared published data from studies that evaluated the impact of environmental exposures and medical conditions on children’s intelligence. He generated loss estimates based on 25.5 million children under age 5 in the United States.

He examined birth defects, preterm birth, ADHD, autism, brain injuries, and other common children’s health problems. On the environment side, he investigated lead, organophosphates and methylmercury. All have sufficient data to produce a reliable population-based estimate on effect size. The effect size is a measure of how the children’s IQ will change with increases in environmental exposure or by having a medical condition.

He limited the analysis to IQ because it can be reliably measured even before school age and is commonly measured and reported in published studies.

He estimated the IQ loss in children based on the concentrations of environmental exposures in the general population and on the prevalence of medical conditions in the population. He compared the magnitude of IQ loss by each exposure or condition.

What did they find?

Lead exposure in U.S. children could be related to about a 23 million IQ point loss in the population, making it the most harmful environmental exposure among the three examined.

Organophosphate pesticides would affect the children by reducing IQ by about 17 million points at the population level.
Methylmercury itself could explain about 0.3 million IQ points lost in U.S. children.
Together, the three environmental exposures would decrease population-wide children’s IQ by 40 million points. This could be equivalent to a loss of 1.6 IQ point in each of 25.5 million children. The average IQ in a society is 100.

In comparison, the estimate for preterm birth – which affects 12 percent of U.S. newborns – was 34 million IQ points. The contribution to societal IQ loss in children by other common problems and disorders, include about 17 million IQ points for ADHD, 7 million points for autism, about 7 million IQ points lost to traumatic brain injuries and 0.1 million IQ points due to birth defects of the heart.

What does it mean?

The potential public health impacts of environmental exposures on children’s nervous systems is significant, according to this study that compares the estimated drops in IQ related to exposures with those related to medical conditions. According to the study, lead and organophosphates together would have more impact than preterm birth or ADHD, two disorders that have considerable societal burden.

The results are important because they are the first to estimate in a population the extent of cognitive losses from environmental exposures. Previous studies have evaluated IQ losses in individuals, which can vary widely in children. Examining IQ effects in populations gives a better indication of impacts on society.

Environmental exposures can be prevented and efforts to reduce toxic chemicals have been made. But the study’s findings suggest they don’t go far enough. Further reductions would help avoid even more public health effects associated with a downward shift of IQ.

Even small reductions in a person’s IQ can increase the need for extra help in school or at work. At a societal level, declining IQ scores results in overall lower intellectual ability, competitiveness, career achievement and increased costs in school and health care.

Even though the analysis focuses on chemical exposures, the approach could apply to non-chemical impacts – such as radition or noise – that may also impact children’s intelligence. Prevention of both chemical and non-chemical threats to child development should be considered when trying to reduce the effects on cognitive function.

This study gathered information on IQ. Other effects – including social adaptation, behavior and executive functions (memory, reasoning, attention) – from environmental exposures are also possible. Preventing children’s exposure to the toxic chemicals identified here may also address these effects as well.

The study suggests parents – and even pre-pregnant women – should be aware of common environmental exposures and how to prevent or reduce them. The author recommends that researchers work to identify historical, existing and new toxic chemicals that could be hazardous to a child’s developing nervous system

Day by day I am hearing more and more positive qualities of eating dark chocolate. Chava is made from organic dark chocolate which uses natural healthy cane sugar juice as a sweetener. Of course, this chocolate is Free Trade. Chava not only has the huge benefits of dark chocolate (including a whopping ORAC score of 33000), it also includes a natural mood enhancer and a maintenance dose of toxin eliminating purified liquid zeolite. Now that is really something to get excited about.

Dr Mercola posted this article on his website www.Mercola.com

Researchers have discovered that epicatechin, a compound in dark chocolate, may protect your brain after a stroke by increasing cellular signals that shield nerve cells from damage.

An hour and a half after feeding mice a single dose of epicatechin, animals that had ingested the compound suffered significantly less brain damage following an induced stroke.

Eurekalert reports:

“While most treatments against stroke in humans have to be given within a two- to three-hour time window to be effective, epicatechin appeared to limit further neuronal damage when given to mice 3.5 hours after a stroke. Given six hours after a stroke, however, the compound offered no protection to brain cells.”

DR MERCOLA’S COMMENT

Strokes (which are sometimes referred to as “brain attacks”) occur when the blood supply to your brain becomes blocked or reduced. This deprives your brain of necessary oxygen and nutrients, causing your brain cells to begin to die within minutes.

But researchers are looking into the protective qualities of certain antioxidants, in this particular case, epicatechins, a natural compound found in cacao, tea, red wine, and certain fruits and vegetables. And this compound may offer significant benefits to stroke victims.

Antioxidant-rich cocoa has been consumed for about 2,600-years, and certain native tribes, such as the Kuna tribe described in the press release above, who regularly consume cacao drinks, may owe their extremely low rates of cardiovascular disease to this heart healthy food.

Dark Chocolate May Protect Your Brain After Ischemic Stroke

Although previous research has already shown that dark chocolate can restore blood vessel function and protect you from heart disease, this latest study evaluated cacao’s effect on brain function after ischemic stroke.

The press release states:

“Ninety minutes after feeding mice a single modest dose of epicatechin, a compound found naturally in dark chocolate, the scientists induced an ischemic stroke by essentially cutting off blood supply to the animals’ brains.

They found that the animals that had preventively ingested the epicatechin suffered significantly less brain damage than the ones that had not been given the compound.

While most treatments against stroke in humans have to be given within a two- to three-hour time window to be effective, epicatechin appeared to limit further neuronal damage when given to mice 3.5 hours after a stroke.”

This is good news, considering that stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States, and if you’ve ever known anyone who survived, but suffered brain damage from a stroke, you know how devastating it can be to the entire family.

Whenever you’re dealing with a stroke, every second counts, so being able to extend the window of opportunity for successful treatment for as much as an hour is quite phenomenal. Being able to do it with a safe, natural compound is even better.

How does it do it?

According to the press release, the study “suggests that epicatechin stimulates two previously well-established pathways known to shield nerve cells in your brain from damage. When the stroke hits, your brain is ready to protect itself because these pathways are activated.”

Interestingly, the mechanism of action appears to be an indirect one. Study author Sylvain Doré, Ph.D., is quoted as saying that,

“Epicatechin itself may not be shielding brain cells from free radical damage directly, but instead, epicatechin, and its metabolites, may be prompting the cells to defend themselves.”

This is a good thing because the epicatechin needed to “jump-start the protective pathway” is already present within your cells. So according to Doré, even a small amount of cacao may be sufficient to reap these protective health benefits.

Known Health Benefits of Pure Cocoa

While all flavonoids are antioxidants, some have stronger antioxidant properties than others, depending on their chemical structure. Raw cocoa powder ranks very high in terms of antioxidant properties and subsequent health benefits.

For example, a 2003 study in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry found that a cup of hot cocoa (using pure cocoa powder) had close to double the amount of antioxidants than a glass of red wine, more than double the amount of green tea, and four to five times more than black tea.

Likewise, dark unprocessed chocolate has been exonerated in several studies as actually having some positive impact on your health, such as improving your:

Glucose metabolism (diabetic control. In fact, one study showed that regular consumption of high-flavonol cocoa for one monthimproved participants’ diabetes as much as exercise and many common diabetic medications.)

Blood pressure

Cardiovascular system

Buyer Beware: Not All Chocolate is Created Equal

It’s important, however, to realize that the health benefits discussed above are mainly due to the high amounts of antioxidants present in the cocoa, and any time you process the cocoa, it loses its nutritional value.

This is echoed by Dr. Doré, who warns that “the epicatechin found in dark chocolate is extremely sensitive to changes in heat and light. In the process of making chocolate, you have to make sure you don’t destroy it. Only few chocolates have the active ingredient.”

This means that the chocolate that offers the greatest health benefits is also the kind of chocolate that few people find truly mouthwatering, as it is very bitter – NOT sweet.

Milk chocolate, therefore, rates very poorly in this regard as it is heavily processed. The typical commercial chocolate has less than half of its flavonoids remaining after processing.

According to a study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, in terms of healthy antioxidant content, cocoa powder is followed by:

Unsweetened baking chocolate

Dark chocolate

Semi-sweet chocolate chips

Milk chocolate

If you’re still tempted to grab milk chocolate, simply because it’s on the list, don’t.

Because in addition to being already low in antioxidants, milk chocolate contains milk, which further cancels out chocolate’s antioxidant effects. And it’s typically loaded with sugar, which does will do far more harm than good to your cardiovascular system.

Yet another little known concern about processed chocolate is lead content. Researchers have found that commercial chocolate can be contaminated with extremely high quantities of lead. It is currently unknown if this contamination is coming from the shipping or the manufacturing process.

Whatever the cause might be, your best bet is to stick with dark, organic, unprocessed chocolate to minimize contamination risk.

To maximize your health advantages from dark chocolate, I strongly recommend you stick to USDA Certified Organic chocolate, because this is the best guarantee there is that the food has been organically grown and processed, from beginning to end.

I searched long and hard to find one, and once I did, I decided to add it to my online store. It’s even Fair Trade Certified, which is a system of exchange that honors the chocolate producers, communities, consumers, and the environment.

How Much Dark Chocolate is a Healthy Amount?

One study published two years ago found that just 6.7 grams of dark chocolate per day — a bit less than half a bar a week — represents the ideal amount for a protective effect against inflammation and cardiovascular disease.

Any more than that started to cancel out the benefits.

Chronic inflammation is a risk factor for the development of cardiovascular diseases ranging from myocardial infarction to stroke.

The study found that those who ate dark chocolate regularly had an average of 17 percent reduction in C-reactive protein — enough to decrease the risk of cardiovascular disease by one-third in women and one-fourth in men.

How to Prevent a Stroke From Occurring in the First Place

Although chocolate-derived antioxidants may help protect against brain damage were you to suffer a stroke, PREVENTING a stroke from occurring in the first place should clearly be your ultimate goal.

Conventionally speaking, many of the same risk factors that increase your risk of heart disease also increase your risk of stroke, and these include things like:

High blood pressure

Obesity

High triglycerides and elevated homocysteine levels

Low levels of HDL (good) cholesterol and high levels of LDL (bad) cholesterol

Smoking

So will eating unprocessed, natural foods, exercising and keeping your weight at a healthy level help to reduce your risk of stroke?

Absolutely.

But while these are important factors, they are not the only ones. Very high up on the list of keys to preventing a stroke is to get a handle on your stress levels.

For instance, a study in Neurology of over 20,600 people found that psychological distress will greatly increase your risk of suffering from a stroke. And, the more stressed you are, the greater your risk.

The researchers actually found that for every notch lower a person scored on their well-being scale, their risk of stroke increased by 11 percent! Not surprisingly, the relationship between psychological distress and stroke was most pronounced when the stroke was fatal.

So while you are making efforts to get your diet on the right track, and to stay physically active, please do not overlook the crucial importance of your emotional health. Choose a method, such as the Meridian Tapping Technique/Emotional Freedom Technique (MTT/EFT), that works for you, and use it regularly, daily even, to release the past and present stresses in your life.

My dog Pandora, was very sick recently and in extreme pain. I had to take her to the emergency 3 times over a weekend starting from 2:00 in the morning, but they couldn’t find the cause. They put her on an opiate and sent her home. The pain came back as soon as the drug wore off.

I thought I was going to lose her. I put her on the liquid zeolite and within hours she started to improve.

I give her 3 drops 2 x daily now, and you wouldn’t believe she was the same dog. She is now 15 and romps around in a way that she hasn’t done since she was around 9 years old.

My tonkinese cat Vishi, used to vomit daily and was looking pretty sick. The vet thought he was suffering from kidney failure. I put him on a couple of drops a day.

He is now about to turn 18 and has silky hair and lets the new puppy Tigerlily, play with him.
